Slander, Extortion, Felony

Slander - the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation.

Extortion - the act of obtaining something through illegal means - threats, harassment.

Felony - Extortion is a felony, a serious felony punishable by 2 to 4 years in state prison.

All three of these things are done by the ignorant, the mean, the psychopathic.

I just discovered your blog. You have my deepest sympathy. My family has been the victim of a woman (neighbor/sociopath) for the last seven years. We have had to have therapy for PTSD. It is nearly impossible to communicate the horror to anyone who has not been a victim, isn't it? I wish you relief and freedom and peace. I'll check back in--suze

People who have not experienced a truly sneaky, relentless predator simply cannot imagine the horror. Absolutely true. ESPECIALLY the 'law'. It really made me boil inside when people would say, "Why don't you move?" - like it was my fault, even though we did nothing to start or to continue this evil guy's assaults. PTSD is another thing other people do not understand at all. It can be very damaging. I was unemployable for four years - my memory was shot, I trembled constantly and my temper! I wish you and your family the best.

Oh, yes. It is truly infuriating when told, "Why don't you move." You must not move! Time may be the only thing on your side, but, if you leave, not only will you be traumatized for life, but you empower the psycopath further. I think of the dough boy in the old movie Ghostbusters growing larger and larger.
There is a legitimate treatment for PTSD called EMDR that I have found to be more effective than pharmacological ones. I found a wonderful psychologist in my city and wanted to pass that along. You're a good researcher, so, if you are interested, I'm sure there is someone in your region that knows about this.
We must all fight this horror wherever we are, or we will lose civilization, yes?
You are not alone and I hope more people will read your story and offer support.
Thank you for your diligence and kind words--suze

OH MY GOD!!!!! We have been having similar problems with a neighbor for years. I just happened to be on-line and typed in injuntion against harrassment broken - which is what he has done MANY times since my husband & I each have injuntions against him and the judge also imposed the Brady Law against him to which means they are supposed to take away his firearms. I am so sorry for what you are going through...I totally understand!!! It's a daily ongoing nightmare. I won't go into detail, but it is very similar to what you are going through. I wish it would end!!! We installed many night vision video cameras and that has helped with the theft, but not the harrassment!!!! Will be going to court yet again soon. Has cost us our sanity, thousands of lost hours of peace, quiet & sleep. Not to mentions thousands and thousands of dollars. We don't want to move either. We love our home and have been there over 22 years. Don't want to be bullied either. I know what you mean about good cop bad cop. May you find some comfort in someone who knows and understands. Please take care. Peace.

Be sure to check with your doctor and see if you have any symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder. You can file charges against him for "Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress". If he has any money, sue him. My sneaky neighbor turned everything over to his wife, so we could not sue him and get anything. Keep the pressure up and they may tire of it all, like our neighbor did, and move out. Best of luck to you. Please stay in touch - I'm writing a book.

I am currently experiencing a bully next door.
I took him to court for his constant loud music and parties. We agreed to drop the charges if he would agree to be a good neighbor. Hah! Were we dumb! He was at it three days later, and ran when we called the cops. It looked like we were liars except we video taped the cars sitting next to the fence playing the music, so it was admissable.

We are going back to court for an injunction against loud music, since he just turns it up without parties now. Often it just starts up and he hides in the house.
He bought a huge DJ system so he cn play it even louder.
Buy something called a sound snooper and hook it to your computer. It records the length and day of the disturbance and cant be altered. YOu dont have to get up, grab the video camera and try to prove the music is playing or call the cops who have more to do than run out there every few hours.
It is admissable in court.
Now we are installing camera to show his kid standing in front of our house flipping us off while the other kid stands near by with a camera.

Hope this helps someone.
